Female Sharer required for Balham SW17
Available from: 22/2/2020
SW17-conveniently located 5 mins walk from Balham Overground and Underground (Northern line) Stations and all the shops of Balham.
What the Opportunity entails:
A warm, friendly, intelligent and interesting elderly Polish person with very poor eyesight and limited mobility is seeking a Sharer for their home to give them a mix of 15 hours’ help and company each week in exchange for the low-cost accommodation. They speak excellent English and native Polish, and would really enjoy the company of ideally a Polish sharer (who must also speak English). They have a lovely little dog, a Chihuahua, so a dog lover is essential.
The family will be really reassured by knowing someone is living in the property, helping with housework, providing drinks and some cooking (perhaps vegetable soup, or Polish or other European dishes), dog walking, and ensuring the property is safe and locked–up at night.
The accommodation on offer is large room currently set up as a bedsit with single bed, table, built-in cupboard, chest of drawers, basin, and little kitchen area with kettle, toaster and microwave. Potential a little oven could be added. Initially, while forging a relationship, you may need to do most of your personal cooking in your own bed-sit, but can use the main kitchen for shared meals etc (and hopefully increasingly as you settle in together).
The property is conveniently located 5 mins walk from Balham Overground and Underground (Northern line) Stations and all the shops of Balham.
The person has a wealth of fascinating stories. They enjoy history (especially Polish history), have done lots of charity fund raising, and used to work in fashion and antiques.
As a Sharer you are free to work or study as long as you have enough spare time to give the agreed level of company and support. The ideal Sharer will be Polish, warm, friendly, practical and reliable. A non-smoker is essential.
£150.00 per month. Plus possible contribution to Council Tax/Bills ( up to £50 per month).
