Male Sharer Sought for Blackheath SE3
Available from: 13/7/2019
Blackheath, London SE3
What the Opportunity entails:
A elderly person living with memory loss is seeking a Sharer for their home to give them some friendly company (around 5 hours each week) plus around 10 hours a week of practical help in exchange for the low-cost accommodation.
The property is a ground floor flat in a convenient location just a 10 minute walk from Blackheath BR Station (zone 2). From there regular trains take about 15 mins to Waterloo, or there is a bus that takes 10 mins to Lewisham. The property is also convenient for Greenwich.
There is a good-sized bedroom and shared bathroom. The reception room/kitchen is open plan with a well-equipped kitchen area. There are doors that lead onto the communal garden.
This person would welcome some friendly companionship and encouragement, as well as a little practical help around the house. Ideally someone who has worked in elderly care would be welcomed but not essential.
The support would include making the person a cup of tea in the morning and helping them get started for the day, as well as cooking and sharing a meal once or twice during a week, and ideally a Saturday lunch or dinner. The person enjoys simple fresh meals served with fresh vegetables. The general practical help would be things that you would do anywhere you live such as some shopping, light cleaning/tidying, helping with technology etc. You would also liaise with the elderly person’s family.
In terms of companionship, the person would enjoy someone accompanying them on local short walks, and perhaps watching TV with them – they enjoy watching sport such as football and cricket or simply having a friendly chat. As well as sport, the person is interested in current affairs, literature and the arts.
We hope to find a good-natured, friendly and positive male Sharer, who will enjoy and appreciate this opportunity. Non-smokers only please.
If you are interested, please email a little information about yourself, your age and nationality, your hours and location of work/study, if you can commit for at least a year, why you are interested and think you may be suited to this share, your hobbies/interests, your cooking ability and style, plus any relevant experience. We can then give you more details about this specific situation.
