ABOUT OUR SHARERS AND CARERS
Who they are: How we Match; Duties they Perform.
Sharers and Carers:
Our Sharers and Carers come from all walks of life, and from many different cultures and backgrounds. They are normally aged 22 and over, and are either working or studying. Many have jobs in sectors such as health, social services, or education. Others are students, artists or experienced carer-companions. The live-in service offers them the opportunity for accommodation, which might otherwise be unaffordable. The live-out service gives them the chance to increase their income.
Matching:
Having visited the Homeowner to assess their needs and preferences, Share & Care then seeks to recruit an individual who best matches the homeowner, both in terms of practical requirements and personality. The Agency performs a rigorous interview process, including checking ID and documentation, CRB checks and contacting referees personally. The Agency will only arrange an introduction when it is completely satisfied that the candidate will be suitable for the Homeowner.
Duties a Sharer / Carer may perform:
The practical duties can be anything from shopping, cooking simple meals, light cleaning and light gardening to accompanying on visits to the doctor, dentist, on shopping trips or to social events. At the same time, they are also there to be a friend and companion to the Homeowner.
Because Sharers live in the home, they are in the home for more than the 10 hours practical help they’ve agreed to give in exchange for accommodation. They can therefore give additional companionship each week, during the day or early evening or whenever they’re around. This could include eating a meal with the Homeowner, chatting, or simply being in the home.
[Our Sharers and Carers are not permitted to provide personal care, such as lifting, assisting with feeding, bathing, getting dressed etc].
