LIVE-OUT SERVICE - CARERS
Share & Care UK – Live-out:
The Agency also offers a live-out service as it recognises that for some individuals, sharing their home is not the best solution.
Perhaps they do not have a spare room, or simply prefer to live on their own. Or they may be in a nursing home and their family just wants a third party to pop in regularly to check that they are alright and report back.
The Agency can also provide short-term placements, perhaps as holiday cover for the Homeowner’s normal carer-companion or family member.
The Agency recruits Carers who can pop in for as many – or as few – hours as the Homeowner requires.
How it works: The Carer comes to visit the Homeowner for the hours they require. It might be a couple of hours each day, or just once or twice a week. The Homeowner may ask their Carer to pop into the supermarket on the way over. When they arrive, they may do any number of practical jobs such as cook the Homeowner a meal, tidy the kitchen, hang-up washing, do the ironing, or change a light bulb. They may then make a cup of tea and sit down with the Homeowner for a chat. Because the Agency takes great care in recruiting Carers whose personalities match that of the Homeowner, the aim is that even while carrying out practical tasks, the Carer is also giving friendship and companionship to the Homeowner.
Costs: The Homeowner employs their Carer, and pays their Carer direct for the hours they work, plus a small fee to the Agency. Please contact the Agency for full details.
On-going support: The Agency provides on-going support to both the Homeowner and the Carer. This includes monthly phone calls. The objective is to monitor how things are going and help to clarify and resolve any issues should they arise. The team is always at the end of the phone to provide help, and aims to provide a professional and friendly service.
