What the Opportunity entails:

A friendly older lady with memory loss and reduced mobility is seeking a Sharer for her home to offer a mix of 15 hours’ help and company each week in exchange for the low-cost accommodation.

She is well-supported by carers and family, but would value the friendly reassurance and company of having someone around their home in the evenings and overnight. She would enjoy some fresh-cooked evening meals – and sitting and eating with someone a few evenings each week – plus a general helping hand with picking up shopping, finding TV programmes, watching some TV together, having a chat, changing light bulbs, going on occasional outings in her wheelchair (in nice weather), light cleaning and tidying, prompts and reminders, and other ad hoc practical support and errands as may be helpful.

The accommodation on offer is a single bedroom furnished with a large single bed, wardrobe, chest of drawers, and own bathroom. (There may also be some space in another small study room for a Sharer to work from.) The Sharer’s accommodation is on the first floor as the Householder is on the ground floor only. The Sharer also has shared use of the kitchen, sitting room and garden.

The property is in an excellent location just 6-7 minutes’ walk from Whitton Station (trains into Richmond, Clapham Junction and Waterloo) and a 15 minute bus ride to Hounslow bus station.

The lady is a big sports fan – especially football and was actively involved with her local football club for many years. She also enjoys reading the newspaper, watching TV (football, wildlife/animals, quizzes), and watching the birds in the garden. She is VERY house proud and will spend a lot of time cleaning and tidying, so this situation will only suit a Sharer who is also naturally clean and tidy.

As a Sharer you are free to work or study as long as you have enough spare time to give the agreed level of company and support. The ideal Sharer will be a kind, helpful and reliable non-smoker, who is happy to help around the home.
