What the Opportunity entails:

An elderly couple are seeking a Sharer for their home to give them a mix of 15 hours’ help and company each week in exchange for the low-cost accommodation.

They would value the friendly reassurance and company of having someone around their home in the evenings and overnight. They would also like some general practical help around the home such as picking up shopping, cooking up to four or five simple meals each week, light cleaning and tidying, and ad hoc practical help and errands as may be needed.

The accommodation on offer is a double bedroom furnished with a double bed, chest of drawers, wardrobe, desk and chair. There is a separate toilet near the room, and the shared bathroom is on the ground floor. There is also shared use of the kitchen, sitting room and garden,

The property is in an excellent location in Clapton, less than 10 mins walk from Clapton Station, 15 minutes’ walk from Hackney Downs Station, a 5-minute bus ride to Hackney Central, and 10 minutes by bus to Dalston Underground Station. It is near Lee Valley and approx. 12 minutes’ walk to Homerton Hospital.

The elderly gentleman is a Reverand and very independent, but would appreciate a simple meal on Sunday evenings. Because the lady has reduced mobility, she would enjoy someone sitting with her for some meal times, to watch a TV programme together and for a friendly chat. Originally from Nigeria, they are both committed Christians and enjoy Christian music and praise programmes. She also loves fashion and make-up. It is a non-drinking, non-smoking home with no pork.

As a Sharer you are free to work or study as long as you have enough spare time to give the agreed level of company and support. The ideal Sharer will be a kind, helpful and reliable non-smoker, who is happy to help around the home.
