What the Opportunity entails:

An intelligent, educated and ‘with it’ older person who is with reduced mobility is seeking a Sharer for their home to give them a mix of 15 hours’ help and company each week in exchange for the low-cost accommodation.

This person would value the friendly reassurance and company of having someone around their home in the evenings and overnight. They have been blind since birth and have been very independent, would now appreciate some general practical help around the home such as picking up shopping/putting shopping away/checking the fridge, cooking and sharing four or five meals each week, light cleaning and tidying (there is a cleaner too), carrying heavier items, prompts and reminders, and ad hoc practical help and errands as may be helpful.

The accommodation on offer is a large double bedroom with double bed and ample storage, its own bathroom and balcony, and shared use of the kitchen and sitting room. There is space in the bedroom for a desk or arm chair/sofa if the Sharer would like.

The property is in an excellent location in the heart of Tunbridge Wells, two minutes’ walk from Tunbridge Wells mainline station.

A retired civil servant, the person has a good sense of humour, enjoys watching TV, listening to music (a variety), going out for dinner and trying new restaurants, listening to cricket or other sports, listening to the news, reading (braille) and a good conversation. They love animals and although they don’t have any pets of their own, their daughter’s dog visits from time-to-time.

As a Sharer you are free to work or study as long as you have enough spare time to give the agreed level of company and support. The ideal Sharer will be a kind, helpful and reliable non-smoker, who is happy to help around the home.
