What the Opportunity entails:

A friendly and chatty older person with reduced mobility and poor memory is seeking a Sharer for their home to give them a mix of 15 hours’ help and company each week in their spare time exchange for the low-cost accommodation.

This person would value the friendly reassurance and company of having someone around their home in the evenings and overnight. They are well supported by carers in the day, but would love a Sharer who could cook 4 or 5 evening meals each week and have a chat and, when possible, eat with them for friendly company.  Other ad hoc help would also be appreciated, such as light cleaning and tidying up, prompt and reminders and just general practical help around the house as may be needed.

The accommodation on offer is a bright and spacious double bedroom furnished with double bed, dressing table and closet, plus shared use of the bathrooms, kitchen, sitting room and garden.

The property is in an excellent location 10 minutes’ walk from West Norwood Station, 15 minutes’ walk from Tulse Hill and West Dulwich stations, and several bus routes at the end of the road.

The person is very sociable and enjoys a chat. They are Irish and very knowledgeable about the history of the region. They have always been an avid reader, and although they find this more difficult now enjoy literature including the classics, and poetry, and the newspaper. They have always had an interest in current affairs and likes the arts (art, opera, ballet). If someone was able to accompany her to her Catholic church for mass from time-to-time, that would be really appreciated.

As a Sharer you are free to work or study as long as you have enough spare time to give the agreed level of company and support. The ideal Sharer will be a kind, helpful and reliable non-smoker, who is happy to help around the home. Experience with Dementia would be advantage.
