Daughter of a Householder in Kent - Nov 25
Share and Care saved us. I don’t say that lightly.
My brother and I were struggling to do our best for our Mum as she deserved nothing less than that. Not only was she the best Mum to us, she raised us to be kind and respectful. Ensuring she was as well cared for as possible was a fine balance to achieve. All this while trying to manage our own lives.
In the past we had needed live in care while our Dad had suffered a stroke. This took its tole on Mums independence. This was also financially unsustainable when our Dad then sadly died. It also wasn’t what Mum needed.
Having been very independent for her whole life 24/7 live in care was stifling her and wasn’t what she needed. She lost her autonomy and to a degree her independence.
A chance conversation with a Doctor at work lead me to researching Share and Care. From that moment we were carried to where we are now. If felt right from the start. The people we were in contact with just ‘got it’ it’s a lonely and isolated world navigating care for parents. Now, Mum has her home and independence back. She has a friend in Magda. They have a really special relationship. They have worked out what works well for them both.
My brother and I have great comfort knowing there is someone there with Mum. Especially at night.
The team at Share and Care were always there if we needed them, which thankfully wasn’t often.
I can not praise what you have done for Mum and our family enough. Please keep doing your great work!!
