What the Opportunity entails:

 A friendly and active older person with a little memory loss and slightly reduced mobility is seeking a Sharer for their home to give them a mix of 15 hours’ help and company each week in exchange for the low-cost accommodation.

This person would really benefit from some practical help around the house including some driving and shopping, cooking and sharing a few meals each week, accompanying on some outings/to appointments if free, ad hoc help around the house, reminders, plus the friendly reassurance of having someone around their home in the evenings/overnight.

The accommodation is self-contained withing the house, comprising a double bedroom with its own kitchen and shower room. It is furnished with a double bed, desk and chair, chest of drawers and wardrobe. There is a cat in the main part of the house but it doesn’t venture into the Sharer’s annex.

The property is located in a rural village approx 10 miles from Newcastle or Hexham train stations and 6 miles from Newcastle Airport there are buses but it would best suit a car owner/driver. Approx. 25 minutes to Newcastle and the university.

The person’s interests include classical music, gardening, the arts, visiting museums, poetry, church, walks and good TV dramas.

As a Sharer you are free to work or study as long as you have enough spare time to give the agreed level of company and support. The ideal Sharer will be a kind, helpful and reliable non-smoker, who is happy to help around the home.

Suitable for a couple – This situation may be suitable for a couple. The cost to a couple is £250 per month plus a contribution of up to £75 towards utilities. The commitment is still 15 hours of support/company each week which can be shared between the couple.
